Having a large vocabulary helps children learn more and allows them to make sense of the world around them. Communication and language is a prime area within the Early Years Curriculum, and it's one of the most important building blocks for all other areas of learning.  

As children develop their speaking and listening skills, they are building the foundations for literacy, learning, exploring and playing. They are learning key skills to enable them to express themselves, make friends, make connections with the world around them and become curious, insightful children.
