Maths

This half term we will continue to explore numbers with a focus on:

  • counting in everyday contexts, both forwards and backwards between 0 and 10

We will also be learning about shapes and will focus on:

  • Talking about and exploring 2D and 3D shapes (for example, circles, rectangles, triangles and cuboids)

  • Using informal and/or mathematical language to describe different shapes: ‘sides’, ‘corners’; ‘straight’, ‘flat’, ‘round’.

  • Selecting shapes appropriately e.g. flat surfaces for building, a triangular prism for a roof etc.

  • Combining shapes to make new ones e.g. an arch, a bigger triangle etc.
