World Book Day

Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo

Washed up on an island in the Pacific, Michael struggles to survive on his own. With no food and no water, he curls up to die. When he wakes, there is a plate beside him of fish, of fruit, and a bowl of fresh water.  He is not alone…

World Book Day

Over the last term in Year 5 we have been reading about the adventures of a young Michael Morpurgo in his brilliant adventure book 'Kensuke's Kingdom'. When travelling with his parents aboard the 'Peggy Sue' Michael and his dog (Stella) are unfortunately thrown overboard and end up being washed up on a deserted island. Or so Michael thinks, until he meets a mysterious man called Kensuke.

During World Book Day we are going to be studying the book in further depth and really thinking about putting ourselves in the shoes of Michael and Kensuke. Therefore we have decided to join them as shipwrecked characters. Children should wear worn, torn or ripped clothing. Please see example image below:

We can't wait to share all the brilliant work children produce on the day as well as some images of our day as shipwrecked people. Please check back on this page after World Book Day to sample a flavour of the day!

Thank you for the support
