Autumn news

 

Welcome back to the second half of the Autumn term! Although the days are getting chillier, inside the classroom the children are showing great focus and enthusiasm for their learning. We are looking forward to being able to share your child's work and progress with you in the upcoming Parents' Evenings. 

 

We also hope that you will be able to join us for what looks set to be a fun and very entertaining Christmas production on Tuesday 28th November. Year 4 are proud to present 'Michaelmas Mouse' - an exciting, festive tail (sorry!) with lots of song and dance.  

 

May we also take this opportunity to respectfully remind you to ensure all belongings are clearly named and to ask that you sign your child's homework diary each week.

We are all pleased to announce an exciting new times table scheme. When it comes to times tables, speed and accuracy are important – the more facts your child remembers, the easier it is for them to do harder calculations. Times Table Rock Stars is a fun and challenging programme designed to help students master the times tables! To be a Times Table Rock Star you need to answer any multiplication fact up to 12×12 in less than 3 seconds! We would really appreciate your support with this and any times tables practice at home will always be beneficial.

Year 4 Healthy Snack Bars 

Year 4 Healthy Snack Bars

(makes 12 slices)

2 Bananas

250g Oats

150g Butter

75g (3 tbspn) Honey

2 x 50g Choice of Extra – Sultanas, Raisins, Currants, Pumpkin Seeds, Dried Banana, Dried Cranberries or Dried Apricots

 

Method

  1. Mash the bananas in bowl
  2. Add oats to mixture and stir in
  3. Melt honey and butter in a saucepan
  4. Stir melted mixture into oat mixture
  5. Add 2 choices from above list
  6. Grease small baking tray
  7. Add mixture and press down
  8. Bake 170˚F/Gas 3 for 20-25 minutes until golden brown
  9. Remove and cool for approx. 10 minutes, slice in tray and leave to cool completely.
