Year 4


Summer news


It seems that summer is finally upon us! At last! 


The summer term is always an incredibly busy one with trips, Interhouse Tournaments, Sports Days and swimming to name but a few of the exciting events taking place over the next few weeks. 


Back in the classroom, the children are enjoying the current Science topic, 'Sound', and are looking forward to the next and final topic for this year, 'Living things and their Habitats'. We will also being looking further into the religion 'Judaism' in RE whilst in Geography, we will be considering some key environmental issues. Over this term we will also enjoy some more Art learning, looking at 'Cubism' and the unit 'Take a seat', studying and recreating a variety of different chairs! 


Please continue to support where you can with your child's homework and reading generally, as this will help them enormously back in the classroom.


May we also take this opportunity to respectfully remind you to ensure all belongings are clearly named and to ask that you sign your child's homework diary each week.

We are all pleased to announce an exciting new times table scheme. When it comes to times tables, speed and accuracy are important – the more facts your child remembers, the easier it is for them to do harder calculations. Times Table Rock Stars is a fun and challenging programme designed to help students master the times tables! To be a Times Table Rock Star you need to answer any multiplication fact up to 12×12 in less than 3 seconds! We would really appreciate your support with this and any times tables practice at home will always be beneficial.

Year 4 Healthy Snack Bars 

Year 4 Healthy Snack Bars

(makes 12 slices)

2 Bananas

250g Oats

150g Butter

75g (3 tbspn) Honey

2 x 50g Choice of Extra – Sultanas, Raisins, Currants, Pumpkin Seeds, Dried Banana, Dried Cranberries or Dried Apricots



  1. Mash the bananas in bowl
  2. Add oats to mixture and stir in
  3. Melt honey and butter in a saucepan
  4. Stir melted mixture into oat mixture
  5. Add 2 choices from above list
  6. Grease small baking tray
  7. Add mixture and press down
  8. Bake 170˚F/Gas 3 for 20-25 minutes until golden brown
  9. Remove and cool for approx. 10 minutes, slice in tray and leave to cool completely.
