Maths
In Maths this week we will be focussing on 2D shape, in particular on recognising and naming angles. Please use the resources in the Resource Bank below alongside the daily instructions to complete your work.
Mathletics (If you need a reminder of your log in details, please email the Year 4 team)
Please complete the daily Mathletics tasks. You may find it useful to complete these tasks to start your Maths lesson. Remember to click the ‘i’ for a short video clip to help you.
Times Table Rockstars (If you need a reminder of your log in details, please email the Year 4 team)
We are asking children to continue practising their times tables. To help with this we have set 10 minutes of Times Tables Rock Stars ‘garage’ for this week. Simply login and you will only be able to play in this game mode. We highly recommend practising little and often, maybe 2 minutes each day. Of course, children can complete more games if they would like to and even challenge their friends in Rockslam.
For further advice on helping your child learn their tables please visit https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/maths/primary-multiplication-division/help-with-times-tables/
The Year 4 team will be checking your scores and progress on Mathletics and Rock Stars throughout the week.
If any additional support is needed please do not hesitate to contact us via yearfour@stokenchurchprimary.bucks.sch.uk.
Weekly Maths Lesson
The activities for the maths lessons for Monday to Thursday this week are taken from the Collins Maths book we usually use in school.
Equipment you will need:
If you don’t have a ruler and cannot print one don’t worry! You could use a piece of paper to mark a length measured and state whether another line is the same length, longer or shorter.
We understand that some children are accessing their Home Learning on mobile phones. If this makes it impossible to measure the shapes for Thursday’s lesson, please draw your own versions of the shapes or use any shapes or pictures of shapes you have at home (for example in a book or puzzle).

Friday 22nd January
Mathletics Task – Live Mathletics
Click the green PLAY button at the top of the page then enter the exciting world of live Mathletics. We suggest starting on Level 3. Play at least 3 games, each lasting a minute.
The Friday investigation this week is in two parts. The first is a scavenger hunt and the second a 2D shape investigation which you can find in the resources section.
Today’s Fun Friday Challenge starts with the Angles and Lines Scavenger Hunt!
LO – To find right-angles, acute and obtuse angles in real life
Your mission is in two parts. Each part should be timed for 10 minutes.
Remember that perpendicular lines cross or meet at a right angle and parallel lines could carry on forever and never meet.
Have fun!
Once you have completed your scavenger hunts, look in the Resource Bank for Friday 2D Shape Investigation.
LO - To identify the properties of shapes and angles.
