Y6 Isle of Wight - Day 3

Children preparing for kayaking

Year 6 Residential Trip — PGL Little Canada, Isle of Wight

Wednesday 18th June

Another brilliant day at PGL Little Canada — and, without question, the highlight was kayaking in the Solent strait. With the sun shining and the water sparkling, the heady days of English summer are here. The children were fantastic — paddling, laughing, working together and occasionally spinning in circles. A proper adventure.

The rest of the day was packed with more outdoor challenges, testing both physical stamina and mental grit. Problem-solving, teamwork, resilience… all the usual classics. There were a few nerves, plenty of encouragement, and lots of proud moments. Exactly what this trip is all about.

This evening we had a campfire, and it’s hard to overstate just how much joy it brought. Singing, stories, laughter — and of course, the indefatigable Mrs Brand, guitar in hand, keeping spirits high and the tempo higher. Her energy is infectious. The children loved every second.

And yes — the food continues to be excellent, which definitely helps when you’re climbing, paddling and singing your way through the day.

The group is in great form. Tired in the right way, happy, and making memories we know will stick.

As there are so many photos from Day 3, we have put them into an album here.

Roll on Day 4.
