Home Learning

Reading

All children in Reception are expected to read their decodable Phonics book at home at least 3 times a week.

  • Parents/carers are expected to sign their child's reading diary to acknowledge that the reading has taken place.
  • All children who have read their book at least 3 times a week will change their book once a week, on a Wednesday.

Phonics

Children in Reception will be sent home 'Phonics Learning Packs' when they are relevant to the learning that has taken place in school. For example, during the Autumn Term, children will be given a 'Phonics Learning Pack' related to the phoneme and grapheme they have been taught. This is to help the children consolidate their learning. Children are asked to return their completed Phonics work to school for the teachers to celebrate.

Tapestry

Children in Reception are encouraged to share their adventures from home by asking their grown-ups to upload photographs or videos to Tapestry. This is an ideal opportunity for the children to develop their language and confidence as they share their memorable moments with the class.
