LO: to understand there are people who take on the roles of leaders or followers in a group.

Lesson 2 of our ‘Healthy Me’ PSHE topic.

Must:

Children to discuss the qualities/ characteristics of animals. Are there words or phrases that are associated with these animals e.g. quiet as a mouse, cats are sometimes thought of as sly, dogs loyal etc.

Draw a selection of the animals below and label with their characteristics.

• Mouse

• Dog

• Cat

• Crocodile

• Great white shark

• Wolf

• Chimpanzee

Should:

Look at the scenario from the PowerPoint slide list and describe the characteristics of the different children in the scenario.

Discuss the different roles the children have adopted. Is there more than one leader? Has this caused a conflict? What roles have Harry and Tina-Marie chosen?

Can the children problem-solve this situation? How could the group work better? Can anyone be more assertive?

Could:

Write your own scenario thinking about making one child a leader and the other children the followers.

Friday 5th March

In school, we will be making a Roman shield. In the past children have really enjoying making these in the lead up to Roman Day. We would love children to have the opportunity to make a shield and they could bring this into school on Tuesday 16th March (Roman Day). Below I have given you a link for inspiration. Think red and gold!

Along with other year groups we are dedicating Friday afternoon to quality family time.

Below is a list of 101 ideas that we have found. Warning: Some activities are longer/more suitable than others.
