Spring Week 7 22.02.21

Maths

 

In Maths this week we will be focussing on mental methods for addition and subtraction and on constructing our own maths word problems. There are videoed Loom Lessons available each day, guiding you through the day's task/s. You will need to have the task questions, a pencil and some paper ready before you start your daily video lessons.

Please complete the daily Mathletics tasks. You may find it useful to complete these tasks to start your Maths lesson. Remember to click the ‘i’ for a short video clip to help you.

 

Times Table Rockstars (If you need a reminder of your log in details, please email the Year 4 team)

Please complete at least 10 minutes of Numbots every day. Follow this link: https://play.numbots.com/

You will need to put in your Times Table Rockstars login.

Monday 22nd February

Friday 26th February

During the week we have discussed and tried out a variety of addition and subtraction methods and thought about ways in which we can create our own word problems. Your task today is to create some hints and tips which would help you and other children in your year group to remember the following:

  • Different methods for mental and written addition calculations
  • Different methods for mental and written subtraction calculations
  • Hints about how to solve word problems
  • What to remember when writing your own maths problems

 

You can present your hints and tips in any way you would find useful such as:

  • A poster
  • A mini book
  • A maths knowledge organiser (see examples in the Resource Bank)
  • A videoed ‘lesson’ such as the Oak Academy or Loom lessons (we know that some of you have been desperate to be the teacher!)
