English Task - Friday 3rd April

Today please read to the end of the book (Chapter 7 - Saturday ) or follow along with Mr Thompson at the bottom of this webpage.

We would like you focus on a visit to the vets. Please imagine that you are visiting the vets (you could write as a human or pretending you are another animal) and there is a very badly behaved animal (not Tuffy). Think about the actions of the naughty pet. For example:

A skunk who makes the waiting room so bad that everyone else has to leave

A snake that eats some of the other pets

A fish that keeps jumping out of his tank

You could even begin using this extract from the book:

I was still quite suspicious when we reached the vet's. That is the only reason I (insert bad behaviour) at the girl behind the desk......

Estimated Time: 30 -45 Minutes

English Task - Thursday 2nd April

Today please read up to the end of page 38 (Chapter 6 - Still Friday) or follow along with Mr Thompson at the bottom of this webpage.

Using all the work you have done this week we would like you to write a newspaper article about the crimes of the killer cat:

You should:

  • Think of a catch headline
  • Include a description of all the crimes in chronological order (time order)
  • Draw a picture with a caption

You could:

  • Include quotes from different characters (Ellie, Dad, Mum) - not Tuffy he's only a cat!
  • Write an introduction including 5 Ws (What?Where? When? Why?How?)
  • Write a conclusion thinking about what might happen next? What should people in the neighbourhood do?

Please present your work to the best of your ability! You might want to type your work or use the template below to layout your writing.

Estimated Time: 30 -45 Minutes
